We care about our wood!

At Hickory Kitchen we use several types of wood to smoke our foods.  The most common is hickory of course which we get from local farm Medlyn Farms in Branford.  For our fruit woods we trek to upstate NY.  Our last journey brought us to Unadilla New York.  It was quite the adventure.  We made the hour trek from My Aunts house in Cooperstown through small towns and plenty of back roads.  We finally arrived at a VERY long and bumpy gravel driveway, at the top a small home with quite an interesting collection of broken down cars.  The house was situated on a huge property with a beautiful view, even though the day was a bit overcast.  We loaded up two SUVs and were on our way back to CT to get it split and ready to load in the smoker!  Here are some pics...
